I have posted before on Hosier Lane, one of the "graffiti-friendly" alleyways in central Melbourne. It is always interesting to walk through this lane periodically and see the new street art, the defacements, the tags and the layer upon layer of paint that its walls have on them. There is always something unexpected to find and sometimes one rues the destruction of a favourite piece which has either completely disappeared under thick coats of new paint or alternatively has been tagged beyond recognition. Nevertheless, it's always an interesting walk.
This post is part of the Monday Murals meme,
and also part of the Mellow Yellow Monday meme.
Excellent photos. Heath Ledger made a great joker in Batman. Too bad his life was cut short.
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos you show us, Nick! That is a very busy set of walls! The collection of art and tagging on it is amazing on the long view!
ReplyDeleteGreat murals here. The Joker is a real cracker as is the horse. Well somebody must keep account of what is painted here I guess before it disappears. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a whole city with murals! That must be a busy business to paint there.
ReplyDeleteImpressive photos of impressive murals! I must visit Melbourne again soon and see them- and of course, would also be tempted to photograph some of them.
ReplyDeleteGreat series Nick. hosier Lane has sure become a Melbourne Icon.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so wonderful that there is a place set aside for this street art that is constantly changing and unfolding! You have documented it well . . .
ReplyDeleteWow! So much there to see. Excellent images.
ReplyDeleteDoes this help keep other parts of the city graffiti free? There is a lot to see here, some of the paintings are very good! I really like the two figures behind the bars!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Cathy! So colorful and beautiful -- doesn't seem at all like graffiti, but more an ongoing look at the world of the street! Wonderful captures as always, Nick!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThere is some seriously fine work in there. That horse is fascinating. Thank you for the tour.
ReplyDeleteHosier Lane looks a paradise to Mural Mondays photographers. I´d like to be there in person. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
ReplyDeleteI would be there for hours! What a great laneway!
ReplyDeleteSo much to see here. Great photo's!
ReplyDeleteMust be such an adventure to walk through that place.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Tuesday.
You could probably be here for days just looking around. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy YELLOW post.
Have a great week ahead!
Wow, fantastic street art... that first face in the doorway is creepy...
ReplyDeleteI find the first two disturbing and it's hard to take them all in one go on that wall. Some busy artists!
ReplyDeleteHeath was a very good actor. Nice tribute for him. Beautiful murals..
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Mellow Yellow Monday- hope you can stop by..
