Mike has exhibited extensively through Australia as well as participating in group shows in Brazil, Japan and New York, and has works in private and public collections locally and abroad, including some works that have been acquired by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
His work is preoccupied with the interface between man, beast and machine. Presenting a visual riot that stimulates the mind, Mike’s art conveys an imperative message to those confined in the concrete jungle to stay connected to the animal within them that lives in the natural world. He is based in Melbourne Australia. This delightfully whimsical fish mural is painted on tilework outside a Clearance Centre on Smith St, the shop itself being as quirky and selling a variety of used and new outlandish gear and merchandise, trash and treasure. This shop is typical of the neighbourhood, which is very much "alternative".
There's something fishy about this mural:-) If I didn't know better I would of said this street view was in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
ReplyDeleteThat fishy mural will bring in a lot more customer !
ReplyDeleteVery striking, good use of space!
ReplyDeleteGreat fish, the guy has an amazing background, would be fun to find his work in other countries.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely eye fetching. I like the "peep holes" that reveal the skeletal structure beneath that green skin. I visited his blog and see that a lot of his works are more complex and disquieting. BTW, the Clearance Centre is my kind of place. Never know what treasures you'll find within. Thanks for contributing to Monday Mural.
ReplyDeletenice!I shouldlike to be there..love that fish and the shoop♥
ReplyDeleteA great piece in my opinion. Yes, would certainly spend much time at the surrounding shops. Please have a good Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThat wall was just fishing for a great mural.
ReplyDeleteThat fish is wonderfully done!
ReplyDeleteI like the way they used the space! Nicely done!
