In the heart of Carlton, all around the main thoroughfare, Lygon St, are tucked away a maze of small streets, alleys and dead ends. University Place is one them. A mixture of buildings can be found here. Old Victorian terraces, warehouses, utilitarian buildings from all eras and many modern conversions and new buildings.
In University Place this striking red façade adorns two of the back walls of an old converted warehouse. Rather a surprise when on sees it the first time!

Unusual but attractive!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's . . . Red! I love your photos. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh the years I spent in and around Melbourne Uni. Those wild 1960s were (mainly) fun :) But no, I don't think I remember that red facade.
ReplyDeleteIt is an eye catcher.
ReplyDeleteNice capture of the colors, texture and geometry!
ReplyDelete«Louis'» "Gearhead Tuesday" post today is about the cars of Australia featuring the 80th Anniversary of the "Ute".
Fabulous reds!

Very interesting and wonderful that they added a red color in an otherwise bland building. It's also cool that a trailing vine is starting to use the structure too.
ReplyDeleteGosh. That is vibrant Nick. Terrific find.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, I love that red!!
