HOSIER LANE AGAIN

I have posted before on Hosier Lane, one of the "graffiti-friendly" alleyways in central Melbourne. It is always interesting to walk through this lane periodically and see the new street art, the defacements, the tags and the layer upon layer of paint that its walls have on them. There is always something unexpected to find and sometimes one rues the destruction of a favourite piece which has either completely disappeared under thick coats of new paint or alternatively has been tagged beyond recognition. Nevertheless, it's always an interesting walk.

This post is part of the Monday Murals meme,
and also part of the Mellow Yellow Monday meme.

  1. Excellent photos. Heath Ledger made a great joker in Batman. Too bad his life was cut short.

  3. Great murals here. The Joker is a real cracker as is the horse. Well somebody must keep account of what is painted here I guess before it disappears. Thanks for showing.

  7. I think it is so wonderful that there is a place set aside for this street art that is constantly changing and unfolding! You have documented it well . . .

  9. Does this help keep other parts of the city graffiti free? There is a lot to see here, some of the paintings are very good! I really like the two figures behind the bars!

  10. I totally agree with Cathy! So colorful and beautiful -- doesn't seem at all like graffiti, but more an ongoing look at the world of the street! Wonderful captures as always, Nick!! Have a great week!

  19. I find the first two disturbing and it's hard to take them all in one go on that wall. Some busy artists!
