SUNSHINE...

Summer is leaving us with a bang and not a whimper, this year. On average, we have experienced our hottest summer in Australia this year, ever since records begun in 1901. In Melbourne, March has been unrelentingly hot, with daily temperature maxima over 30˚C for a week since last Sunday, as the graph below shows.

This is very unusual for Melbourne, where a cool change provides some relief after a few hot days. There is no relief predicted until next Saturday...

  1. It certainly has been an extended Summer hasn't it Nick. I think if tomorrow's forecast is correct we will have a new record I.e. 10 consecutive days above 30C. Never has this happened in Melbourne since records began 158 years ago.

  2. Excellent entry. Very thoughtful indeed. Temperature over here nearly already bit of summer today. First thought of wild fires in my mind today. Please have a good Tuesday.
