Ivanhoe is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10 km north-east from Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government area is the City of Banyule. At the 2011 Census, Ivanhoe had a population of 11,085. In 2011 the average individual in Ivanhoe earned $728 per week, which was more than the national average of $577 per week. Ivanhoe is renowned for its older style homes, with many dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Here is a little roadside reserve where a tree stump has been carved into this beautiful statue. Unfortunately, it has been vandalised with unsightly graffiti. The twig with three species of lichen was too interesting not to photograph! The Winter sunshine was conducive to a nice long walk.

This post is part of the Nature Footsteps Floral Macros meme,
and also part of the Our World Tuesday meme.

  1. Like the sculpture.
    And the tree trunk.
    Have a great day.

  2. if lichen isn´t a flower it is a macro for sure. Love it.

  3. I love tree trunk carvings. Even with the graffiti on it, this one still looks pretty cool.

  4. Interesting carving!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

  5. Sad about the graffiti as it is a wonderful carving. Beautiful shots of the lichen.

  6. Interesting post! Visiting from One World.

  7. The lichen is interesting - I don't think I have seen the largest contributor...
I like the statue, with the different textures to it!!! The graffiti, I could do without...

  8. The lichens are really interesting.

  9. Too bad about the graffiti, though that tells a story too.

  10. Love the shot of that fungus effervescing into flower.
