UFUA MURAL, FITZROY

The United Firefighters Union of Australia (UFUA) was officially registered on August 1, 1990, the culmination of a protracted battle which spanned more than 20 years. The UFUA now represents more than 13,000 firefighters across Australian in continued campaigns to achieve improved working conditions for the men and women who confront dangerous and often life-threatening situations in their daily work.

The United Firefighters Union of Australia National Office is at 410 Brunswick St Fitzroy 3065. The side walls of the building is adorned with a mural that suitably has a firefighting theme. The mural is heavily "decorated" with tagging motifs that seem to be an integral part of the design. I'm not sure I like the concept, but it's definitely an arresting mural. However, I do prefer the Fire Brigade mosaic. So, call me old-fashioned!

This post is part of the Monday Murals meme,
and also part of the Blue Monday meme.

  1. Hi Nick,

I agree: I prefer the unadorned traditional firefighting mural. Thanks for playing today.

    Have a Beautiful Blue Monday!

  3. Like you I'm ambivalent about pieces. Can't read them so I feel a little locked out by them. Totally like the fire fighter images. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
