There are many varying forms of transport in Australia. The nation is highly dependent on road transport, but because of the sheer vastness of the continent and the great distances that separate urban centres, there is a great reliance on air travel. There are more than 300 airports with paved runways. An extensive rail network for passengers connects many rural areas to major metropolitan centres. The mining sector is reliant on rail to transport its product to Australia's ports for export.
I recently had occasion to fly interstate for work on several occasions and got these photos from my window seat. I was particularly pleased with the view of Melbourne CBD and the Bay beyond as shown int he last few photos.

Awesome captures, Nick! What fantastic views of Melbourne! Really breathtaking!! Hope you have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI love snapping pics from a plane. These are great!
ReplyDeleteCame here from Mumbai via Sylvia's blog. Have been lurking for sometime, but just loved these photographs from the plane. I have , among many other blogs, a page devoted to figures I see in cloud formations and various moon spots. I just identified and drew the figure in your 4th picture from the top. I normally give links to the original, and then show the original and the "visioned" art side by side in my MoonArt Page on FB (Have done many of Sylvia's cloud and moon photos there). I was wondering if I could seek your permission to use your 4th photo there, with proper attribution and link to you. Would be very grateful for a response. Thank you!

Very good photos Nick particularly as they are through a plane window. Great detail in the Melbourne CBD shots. My vote however goes to the green patchwork quilt. The Victorian countryside is spectacular at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteTop shots.
ReplyDeleteI always seem to have dirty windows when flying. This a great series, Nick!
ReplyDeleteGreat cityscapes, love all the detail you have captured. Like 'em all but I'm with Joe if I were to choose a favourite.
ReplyDeleteWonderful ! Miss flying much. Thank you for the memories very much. Please have a good weekend ahead.
ReplyDeleteI haven't flown in years. Makes me long for a trip.
ReplyDeleteI'm flying in to Melb for 1st time tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI would like to enjoy this view.
Should I be on the left hand side of the plane?
cheers
