SUMMER CITY
Sunny Summer day on Chapel St, South Yarra. Melbourne’s Chapel Street Precinct runs from the Yarra River to Dandenong Road, through the well-to-do metropolitan suburbs of South Yarra, Windsor & Prahran. A strong retail presence, including expensive boutiques and iconic major brand storefronts, vie with multiple eateries and cafés, restaurants and bars, as well quirky unique shops in the precincts of Yarra Lane, Commercial Road, Greville Street and High Street. The Prahran Market offers fresh food and produce as well as epicurean delis, butchers and fishmongers.

IN WILLIAMSTOWN
The St Kilda Ferry about to approach Williamstown pier. In the background, HMAS Castlemaine (J244/M244/A248), named for the city of Castlemaine, Victoria, was one of 60 Bathurst-class corvettes constructed during World War II, and one of 36 initially crewed and commissioned solely by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
Launched in 1941 and commissioned in 1942, Castlemaine operated during World War II in the waters of Australia, New Guinea, and Timor. She remained in service until 1945, when she was decommissioned into reserve and converted into an immobilised training ship. In 1973, Castlemaine was presented to the Maritime Trust of Australia for conversion to a museum ship. She is one of two surviving examples of the Bathurst class, the other being HMAS Whyalla.

IN GIPPSLAND
Gippsland is a rural region that makes up the southeastern part of Victoria, Australia, mostly comprising the coastal plains to the rainward (southern) side of the Victorian Alps (the southernmost section of the Great Dividing Range). It covers an elongated area of 41,556 km2 located further east of the Shire of Cardinia (Melbourne's outermost southeastern suburbs) between Dandenong Ranges and Mornington Peninsula, and is bounded to the north by the mountain ranges and plateaus/highlands of the High Country (which separate it from Hume region in Victoria's northeast), to the southwest by the Western Port Bay, to the south and east by the Bass Strait and the Tasman Sea, and to the east and northeast by the Black-Allan Line (the easternmost section of the Victoria/New South Wales state border).
It is a convenient region close to Melbourne for a day-trip, but not only. There are many attractive spots to see and many wonderful small towns to see and spots of historical interest to visit.

PRAHRAN MARKET
Melbourne's oldest produce market, Prahran Market is open 5 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) for quality produce and friendly service. Prahran Market is Australia's oldest continuously running food market, proudly being in operation since 1864.
Located in bustling South Yarra (163-185 Commercial Road South Yarra), Prahran Market is easy to get to by train, tram, bus, car (parking is easy), bike or foot! The traders here offer the widest choice to their customers including heirloom produce and hard to find specialties, cheeses, smallgoods, artisan products, certified organic fruit and vegetables, beef, pork, poultry and game. Not to mention fresh sustainable fish, seafood, shellfish and crustaceans.
As it's getting closer to Halloween, pumpkins are everywhere, even though they are expensive imports (remember we have Spring here in Melbourne).

CAFÉ CULTURE
In Greville St Prahran, although one could mistake it for a little café in France. Always wonderful to enjoy Melbourne's café culture on a lovely Spring day like last Sunday.

MARIBYRNONG RIVER
The Maribyrnong River is a perennial river of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the north–western suburbs of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria. The Maribyrnong River draws its headwaters from near Mount Macedon within the Macedon Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range. Formed by the confluence of the Jackson Creek and the Deep Creek below Taylors Lakes, the river flows generally southward, joined by two minor tributaries before reaching its confluence with the Yarra River at Yarraville, to eventually empty into Port Phillip. The river descends 42 metres over its 40-kilometre course.

AT LYGON ST
Lygon Street is a street in inner northern Melbourne, Australia running through the suburbs of Carlton, Carlton North, Princes Hill and Brunswick East. Lygon Street's name has become synonymous with Italian restaurants and cafés located in the Carlton part of the street. In addition, there are specialty shops, boutiques and gourmet food provedores.
The Italian restaurants synonymous with Lygon Street occupy the few blocks between Victoria Street and Elgin Street in Carlton. The area is heavily European in nature, and is the home of the yearly Lygon Street Festa, one of Australia's largest outdoor street festivals. The La Mama Theatre and Courthouse Theatre are also in this area, as is the heritage-listed neon sign at Borsari's Corner, named after Italian cyclist Nino Borsari, on the corner of Grattan Street.
Toto's Pizza House, the first pizzeria established in Australia, has been located at the southern end of Lygon Street continuously since its opening in 1961. Excellent coffee lounges and cake shops are to be found here. Nothing like taking advantage of some Winter sunshine and sipping the best coffee in Australia outdoors and people watching!
