The full moon nearest tot he Autumnal Equinox is called the Harvest Moon or Fruit Moon, as this relates to the agricultural tasks engaged in at this time of the year. We have had our full moon of the harvest a few days ago in Melbourne and I managed to snap these shots from our upstairs window. In the first photo, the bright star is the planet Jupiter.

This post is part of the Skywatch Friday meme.

  1. Your moon shots are absolutely gorgeous! I would love to capture photos like these, but first I need to get a tripod. I don't hand-hold slow shutter speeds very well. I was following you on GFC, and am now following you on Google+. I hope you'll want to follow me, if you aren't already. Happy Skywatch Friday!

  2. I saw that Moon! But the night slipped away before I could get to photograph it. Nice pictures.

  3. Beautiful moon photos Nick. I tried, it was so gorgeous last Saturday night, but my camera just can't pull it off.
