SUBURBAN IDYLL

A quiet suburban street in Melbourne, with a footpath shaded by verdant, shady trees from front yards of single occupancy houses. An idyllic living space under threat as more and more housing developments demolish these houses and replace them with flats, units and apartment towers. Overdevelopment is ruining our suburbs - enjoy these surviving pockets and remember the suburbs as they all were while you still can...

This post is part of the Shadow Shot Sunday meme,
and also part of the Scenic Weekends meme.

  1. I don't mind blocks of flats being built on blocks that were always empty eg in the outer, ever-expanding suburbs. But to pull down a beautiful old home, for dense living and no front and back years, is tragic. Your photo of the footpath covered by trees is my idea of heaven.

  2. Little snippets of paradise-I'll take them whenever and wherever I can!

    Have a Happy New Year!

  3. A beautiful picture..and sadly it is threatened. The new bunker style blocks are totally without character or aesthetic quality. And devoid of greenery of any kind.
