MELBOURNE CAFÉ CULTURE

Melbourne has become famous, the world over, for its café culture scene. Our city streets are abuzz with endless cafés, bars and restaurants. Diverting from the main drag of café-lined laneways, a walk around the City and inner suburbs will allow you to discover a wealth of food and coffee havens.

Melbourne has been voted the coffee capital of Australia. Everywhere in the City, the air is filled with the aroma of espresso coming from a myriad of cafés. Further afield, Carlton, Richmond, St Kilda, Fitzroy, South Melbourne and Prahran also offer great café strips, with a more laid-back feel.

This post is part of the Our World Tuesday meme,
and also part of the Ruby Tuesday meme.

  1. Oh my, these are wonderful shots. I love cafés and thought until now that Vancouver must be the coffee capitol.

  2. I went to the crown building where the Casino is and had a large cappuccino and delicious cake. NZ people like my daughter fly to Melbourne for shopping.

  3. My office is in Flinders Lane, so I like to think I own the coffee shops in Degraves St and other lanes within walking distance :) I am usually strong about not eating cakes... but ohhhhhhhh,, your last photo *moan*

  4. Yum! for both the coffee and food. It's just as well that there's only one cafe that serves really good coffee in my area and it's in the next town over, since I can't have coffee that much any more. Sigh. I can almost smell the aroma of coffee in your photos. Thanks!

  5. Melbourne's lanes have so much more atmosphere and charm then many of the main streets. Some of my favourite haunts in this series Nick.
