FUN IN FRANKSTON

As the wind is blowing outside and the temperature falls, with showers expected to turn to rain tomorrow, I am recalling a lovely sunlit Summer day in Frankston, at the beach... So it's time to dip in the archive and post some Summers-past photos for sympathetic magic!

FRANKSTON LIBRARY MURAL

Frankston is a seaside suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, located in the local government area of the City of Frankston. It is 41 km south-east of the Melbourne city centre, near the northernmost point of the Mornington Peninsula. Due to its geographical location, it is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Mornington Peninsula”.

The Frankston Library has been transformed into a veritable Wonderland through theaddition of some beautiful murals featuring characters from “Alice in Wonderland”. The murals were painted by local artists Brigitte Dawson and Melissa Turner (see: www.melbournesmurals.com.au).

These artists have painted more than 1000 murals in Australia and abroad and they took on the project at the Frankston Library happily, wanting to bring a splash of colour to their home town. The mural is painted in a “trompe l’oeil” style, especially so the garden scene on the far wall, making the white rabbit’s garden blend in with the real plantings.

I posted before some photos taken at Frankston Beach. As we have been having  lots of hot Summer weather (with many bushfires, unfortunately!), here are some more summery fun photos from Frankston.

KANANOOK CREEK BVD, FRANKSTON

Frankston City is situated on the eastern shores of Port Phillip Bay approximately 40 km south of Melbourne. The municipality covers an area of about 131 square km from Seaford Wetlands in the north, to Mt Eliza in the south, and the Western Port Highway in the east. The western boundary of the City is made up of about 10 kilometres of coastline along Port Phillip Bay. Frankston City is strategically placed as the activity centre for the Mornington Peninsula and the nearby south east growth corridor of Melbourne. Currently, Frankston City provides regional shopping, education, health, community service, financial, recreation and leisure and entertainment facilities for a population catchment far greater than its municipal boundaries.

A number of canals, creeks and other waterways can be found in Frankston, making for some picturesque residential locales. This canal is situated close to Frankston Beach and is along Kananook Creek Boulevard, one of the prime development areas of Frankston.
