MELBOURNE STREET TREES 46 - MALUS

Ornamental apple, Malus spectabilis 'plena' must surely be among the most useful of all the ornamental trees, as they are one of the most hardy and easily grown trees available. They are a source of bright spring double blossom, and are easy-to-grow, small trees that tolerate a wide variety of growing conditions. Here they are growing in an inner suburban street of Clifton Hill. The splendid home int he background is a 19th century Victorian terrace house.
