CLEANING MELBOURNE STREETS
We are fortunate in Melbourne to live in relatively clean city, where rubbish in the streets is not a common site, where there are regular street sweepers and cleaning appliances around and also where there are plentiful rubbish and recycling bins in almost every street corner. Furthermore, now that we have enough water stored in our reservoirs, gutters may be washed and cleaned by periodic discharges of water from fire hydrants, as seen here in A'Beckett Street. However, this actually surprised me greatly as I had not seen it done for quite some time!

ReplyDeletei truly love your shot! you did capture the light reflecting on the street so beautifully!!
I remember visiting Melbourne over a long period when the situation was very different and none could wash their cars. Quite a turnaround Nick.
ReplyDeleteNice with clean streets!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
It is always pleasant to have a clean city! Glad your water situation has resolved - water shortages are very difficult!
ReplyDeleteWish they'd do this in OUR city!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice quiet street...that too 'round here would be nice.
Great light and composition, Nick.
ReplyDeletePerhaps an early morning event? :) Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThis is really great, Nick! For the most part, Seattle is a pretty clean city, but with the financial problems just getting worse many, services are being eliminated or reduced to next to nothing! Hope things continue to go well for you and for Melbourne!

Clean streets are such good advertising for a town or city!
ReplyDeleteI always like to hear the sound of the street washers as they scrub their way along our street during the night!
ReplyDeletenice! I´d like that to happen here, especially in april when lots of dust and sand is in the air when it is blowing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great picture !
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Thursday.
Most of the cities in the Western Hemisphere are reportedly clean and well paved. I found Australia too was equally clean.
ReplyDeleteWhile going through your photographs I used to wonder , how much effort and cost is involved in keeping such a big city clean :-)
