I blogged last Monday about the murals in the Melbourne Central shopping mall and I promised to show you the murals in the Food Hall this week. These are in the back wall of the Food Hall and are in mosaic. The theme is "insects", which I find an interesting choice for the place they adorn. However, they do prompt all sorts of associations: Ants at picnics, butterflies feasting on flowers and bugs of all sorts invading pantries! Nevertheless, I do like the mural and it makes a bright cheery addition to the otherwise generic eating area.
This post is part of the Monday Murals meme.
Oh, Nick, these are delightful!! I love them and I would love to eat there and see more of them! What a great place and your captures are fantastic as always! Thanks for sharing these! Have a great week!

Hmmm... I must agree with your commentary, Nick... interesting choice to pair ants and food. But I also agree it's cheerful and, being mosaic, must be easy to keep clean. This is such a great meme... full of creative surprises...
ReplyDeleteIf I were eating there the mural would make feel closer to nature.
ReplyDeleteFunny the romans used already murals with insects in combination with food. You can find them on the walls somewhere in Pompeii and on other places where they left mosaics and fresco's.
ReplyDelete.
What a wonderful idea to brighten up the area! The company I used to work for had murals painted on the dining room walls, but they were food murals! Interesting to use bugs for a food area...nevertheless, they are very nice!
ReplyDeleteWonderful murals! What a happy place.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous, and fun too!
ReplyDeleteThe ants would freak me a bit but I like the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a popular place so it's working... I would enjoy meeting friends in there as long as the foods OK.
ReplyDeleteI want that mural in my new Florida room! Do you think the artist would like to drop by Fort Myers?
ReplyDeleteFun to have a reminder of nature outside, especially when one is deep inside a building without an external view. They are intricately beautiful. And making the financial outlay for a work of art like this in a commercial setting is definitely to be applauded.
ReplyDeleteNow, if there were tablecloths provided, one could almost imagine being on an indoor picnic!
ReplyDeleteNick, this is one if the most cheerful murals we've seen. I like the way they knew they needed to bring nature into this space to counteract the noise and hard reflective surfaces. Thanks for sharing this and participating in this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteHappiness inside, this place feels wonderful, even through the pictures. Please have a good Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI understand this food place is so popular, Nick.
ReplyDeleteThe butterflies are lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful murals... yes the butterflies are lovely.
